Letter from the Publisher August 2017
We’ve made it through the summer, and now back-to-school season is here once again. This time of year can often feel demanding and stressful, so our goal at Natural Awakenings is to help you pause, slow down, re-center and find inspiration in the midst of life’s hectic pace. This month’s issue primarily focuses on the topics of cancer and autism from a holistic perspective, so let’s take a look inside!
Our feature article for August is on “Rethinking Cancer” and offers actionable ideas you can incorporate into your own lifestyle to increase the chances of recovery or prevention altogether. This article delves into the healing benefits of eliminating toxic emotions, consuming nutritious foods and supplements, finding balance through expressive arts or spiritual practices, and self-advocacy when it comes to cancer treatment. In fact, this article sheds light on a new alternative option called integrative oncology which educates patients on the best course of healing for their unique situation, while empowering them to take an active role in their own healthcare.
Next, this month’s Healthy Kids article is about “Reframing Autism” and discusses non-traditional strategies to raise special needs children, so they can mature into enabled and self-sufficient adults. If you’re the parent, relative or teacher of an autistic child, you know firsthand just how remarkable these kids are, but caring for them often presents a distinct set of challenges, so we hope that you’ll find this article informative and helpful as you guide an autistic child through social interactions, family dynamics, school settings and other environments they’ll face growing up.
Also, given the stressful nature of this transitional period, be sure to check out the Wise Words column on the topic of “Mind Over Matter” which explores how a consistent mindfulness practice can reduce anxiety to enhance both physical health and emotional contentment. As you navigate this back-to-school season, integrating mindfulness into your daily routine could mean the difference between high-stress and inner calm. This article is sure to encourage you to join the mindfulness movement.
Well, that’s just a glimpse of all the inspiration and enlightenment you’ll find in this month’s issue. As always, don’t hesitate to send questions, comments or feedback to Publisher@NASRQ.com. And here’s to another month of wellness––from the inside out!
