Holiday De-Stressing at East West College of Natural Medicine

The holidays are stressful, but East West College of Natural Medicine has suggestions to help you alleviate that stress. First, make a point of getting adequate sleep. This can even include taking a short nap in the afternoon. Sleep can reduce stress also increase your memory.

            Schedule an acupuncture treatment. This modality is not just for pain, but can relieve stress too. An acupuncturist inserts fine needles into certain points which can unblock the flow of energy or “Qi” throughout the body. Get a massage.  Stress during holidays tends to affect more women than men, so a self-care practice like massage can be extremely beneficial for women, in particular, this time of year.

In addition, drink herbal teas. There are herbs in Chinese medicine that help calm the mind and promote clear thinking during the holidays. We recommend green tea with Gou Qi Zi (wolfberries), Mei Gui Hua (Chinese rose) and Bai Shao (white Peony root).
