Letter from the Publisher December 2018

‘Tis the season for festive decorations, nostalgic memories and family togetherness. The holiday spirit is all around—and this month’s issue of Natural Awakenings is no exception. Our theme for December is what it means to uplift humanity during this time of year, and how we can make this season meaningful, both for ourselves and the people we connect with. So here’s a peek inside the holiday cheer this issue has to offer!

Our feature article this month is called “Spiritual Tipping Point,” and it explores the idea that when 10% of a population maintains an unshakable belief, the majority will come to adopt that same belief. So given the positive shift toward peace, love and kindness by enlightened and forward-thinking luminaries, modern culture is on the threshold of a revolution in consciousness. We tend to embrace these ideals during the warmth of the holiday season, but imagine a world in which peace and love are rooted in our daily lives.

Continuing with the theme of enlightenment, our “Inspiration” column focuses on six pieces of advice for a happier, more profound holiday season. From memorable traditions that have been passed down for generations to spiritual practices that keep you grounded in the midst of all those hectic preparations, it’s important to remember that first and foremost, this time of year is meant to be filled with pleasure, enjoyment and tons of laughter.

Finally, this season is the perfect opportunity to teach children that happiness is based on more than just material possessions. So this month’s “Healthy Kids” article offers suggestions for holiday gifts outside the realm of new toys and gadgets. These ideas reinforce the lesson that  a thoughtful, meaningful present does not have to come from a mainstream store in order to create an experience that’s worth cherishing.

I hope everything tucked inside the pages of this issue elevates, inspires and uplifts you this season. Please send comments, questions or feedback to Publisher@NASRQ.com. And on behalf of the team here at Natural Awakenings, happiest of holidays—until we meet again in 2019!
