The Spiritual Journey of Alzheimer’s and Dementia
If we are spiritual beings having a human experience, then why are millions of souls worldwide experiencing Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia? Most spiritual and religious beliefs center around relinquishing attachments, a practice that changes our consciousness and perception of the world around us.
Dementia progression erases attachments and detaches the person from this reality puts them into an altered state of consciousness. Could dementia progression actually be a path to enlightenment? Join the Cosmic Center of Spiritual Light for a discussion featuring Katya De Luisa’s unusual perspective on how dementia affects spiritual consciousness.
De Luisa is a freelance writer and visual artist, specializing in the design of expressive arts programs which utilize art and writing to develop insight, increase personal growth and raise spiritual consciousness.
When she developed a picture communication program for people with dementia for the Sarasota Alzheimer’s Association, she began to question what spiritual connection could there be to the challenge of experiencing dementia. Her new book, Journey through the Infinite Mind: The Science and Spirituality of Dementia, is a result of this quest, and information from the book will be featured in her presentation.
