Acquisition brings total to 16 stores within the Richard’s Foodporium brand, including both corporate and franchised locations.
Effective May 1, Richard’s Foodporium, a chain of natural and specialty stores headquartered in Sarasota, Florida, acquired two Good Earth Natural Foods stores in Bradenton, Florida. Remodeling and rebranding the Good Earth locations 6717 Manatee Avenue West has begun with the location at 3110 53rd Avenue East to follow. Due to the proximity of the existing Richard’s Foodporium™ location at 8207 Cooper Creek Blvd., the Good Earth location in Lakewood Ranch was closed on the last day of April. The remodeling is set to be completed in July this summer.
“The Good Earth locations in Bradenton are an excellent addition to the Richard’s chain of stores. While there are substantial similarities between the two businesses, Richard’s Foodporium will bring many unique elements of its own brand to these new locations.” noted John Rorer, owner of Richard’s Foodporium. “Over the summer we’ll install our own décor package, greatly expand the bulk foods selection, bring in our private label products, and implement more aggressive promotional programs to benefit customers in Manatee County.”
Good Earth president and founder, Mark Egan, will stay on with Richard’s Foodporium™, focusing on integrating the Good Earth stores into the Richard’s operation and converting the stores to the Richard’s business model. “We are looking forward to the conversion of our stores into the Richard’s model,” said Egan. “We’ll be able to take advantage of Richard’s warehouse operation, their strong buying capability and their professional administrative team while we continue to serve our loyal customers.”
Good Earth Reward customers will continue to be able to earn Rewards when they shop in both Good Earth and Richard’s Foodporium locations and their Rewards will be honored in all locations. Concurrent Preview Parties for the two stores are slated for late July in both locations.
