Discover your “Walking Engine”
Oct 05, 2011 11:00AM
Everyone agrees that walking is important to your health. But, do you have an achy, breaky walk?
Over the years the torso is often neglected in your walk. When you forget torso mobility or experience fear of falling (at the unconscious level), your muscles tighten around the torso and the “walking engine” which produces efficiency in action gets lost.
On November 6, Bonnie Kissam, M.A. in Physical Education and Feldenkrais® Practitioner for 30 years will guide you to rediscover this walking engine through a series of Dr. Feldenkrais’ body/awareness lessons. You’ll learn to heighten your awareness of the four corners of the torso so you can regain a strong and flexible basis for your walking and other daily activities. You’ll leave with a lighter and more balanced walk.
The workshop will be held at Ionies, 1241 Fruitville Road in Sarasota, from 9:30am to 5pm. Call 941-587-4535 or visit feldenkraisinsarasota.com or bonniekissam.com for more information and reservations.
