TRANSITIONS Support Group Offers Solace During the Holidays
Dec 16, 2011 02:53PM
Holidays often exacerbate our losses, such as the loss of a loved one, job, health, home. With seemingly everyone else celebrating in some form, are you dying inside? Is worry your constant companion? TRANSITIONS helps you find answers and goals for these difficult times and into the New Year: a caring support group that helps you deal with traumatic changes, discover resources and chart strategies to achieve them.
TRANSITIONS meets from 5- 6:30 p.m. every Sunday at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 3700 26th Street West, Bradenton. The group has been helping those in need of emotional and spiritual support for more than 21years. There is no fee for attending; a free will offering is gratefully welcomed.
Rev. Dee Graham, Dr. Don Thompson, and D. Ross Thompson are licensed professional counselors who lead TRANSITIONS. They are asking Natural Awakenings readers to offer prayers and thoughts of support for the group’s Secretary, Ms. Jane Thompson, who is fighting brain cancer. Jane has served TRANSITIONS for 36 years in all avenues of caring for others, in a dozen states and Peru.
The group also announced that the TRANSITIONS support group meetings at the University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee campus, are postponed until classes resume in late January 2012. Participants are encouraged to attend the Bradenton Sunday meetings.
