Mar 30, 2012 12:20PM

Sabrina Cauvin and June Nelson have created Saju Herbal Health and Wellness, a line of natural skin care, hair care and supplements featuring exotic oils from the Caribbean and South Africa. The products are carefully crafted from all natural ingredients and work with all skin types.

The facial cleanser, for example, includes saponified organic oils of coconut, olive and jojoba; lavender essential oil blend; organic lavender and orange oils; organic aloe vera; rosemary extract; organic Rooibos extract; organic guar gum; and vegetable glycerin. The toner incorporates organic bilberry and sugar cane extracts along with organic willow bark, orange, lemon and cranberry extracts. The moisturizer is based on organic aloe vera juice, avocado oil, Rooibos tea tincture, palm oil and neem oil. No fillers or additives are used in any of their products.

Nelson and Cauvin are sisters from Haiti who share a quest for herbal alternatives to chemically based skin care. Nelson, an aesthetician, and Cauvin, a self-described visionary, began working in their kitchen to develop products that would address issues such as eczema and acne that people with all skin types have. “Everything in our products is there for a reason,” said Cauvin.

Saju Herbal Health and Wellness has been introduced online, at farmers’ markets and at Ecofest 2012, among other venues. Plans are to establish distributorships and to partner with local boutiques, spas and chain retailers.
