Apr 19, 2012 05:20PM
Face Autism, a non-profit organization serving families with autistic children in Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte Counties, announced its First Annual Autism Resource Fair, April 21, 2012, from 10am to 3pm at Cardinal Mooney Catholic High School, 4171 Fruitville Road, Sarasota.
This inaugural resource fair will provide residents of the tri-county area the opportunity to obtain valuable information on available resources for education, support, therapies and products pertaining to Autism Spectrum Disorders. The resource fair is just one of Face Autism’s several scheduled events during April, National Autism Awareness Month.
“Families seeking information on autism resources have had to travel to Tampa or further away,” explains Face Autism founder Colleen Buccieri. “We wanted to fill a void here and provide a place for parents to turn to locally.”
Face Autism has registered over 50 vendors including organizations such as Children Therapy Associates, All Children’s Specialty Care of Sarasota, Early Steps Health Planning Council, Family Network on Disabilities, The Mikey Center, Dreams Are Free, and Beyond the Spectrum.
A sensory friendly play area will be provided by Sensory Solutions to keep children entertained while parents gather information. Nordic Naturals, Lingui Systems and Ener-G Foods are a few companies that will provide a sampling of their products for attendees.
Admission is free.
