Balinese Mysticism Class Offered at Mandala Yoga Shala
Surapsari of Purnama Sari Balinese Dance Company will offer a Balinese Mysticism class, “Wisdom of Bali” in Sarasota, Venice and Bradenton in April. This class will explore Balinese cosmology with movement, prayer, mudra, mantra, storytelling, and meditation. It will invite the participants to seek their inner sacred space where their emotions, thoughts, and perceptions are brought to harmony. Participants will learn about key concepts of Balinese philosophy such as; Sekala-Niskala (the material/spiritual worlds), Rwa Bhineda (balance between opposite forces), and Buana Alit-Buana Agung (micro/macro-cosmos). The class fee is $20. Pre-registration is requested.

Thursday, April 12, 7:30pm – 9pm at Mandala Yoga Shala, Sarasota
Saturday, April 28, 11am – 12:30pm at Om Gaia Wholistic Center, Bradenton
Surapsari is an accomplished Balinese temple dancer. The intense dance training she received encouraged her to search for the spiritual dimension of Balinese dance, which culminated in extensive study on Balinese cosmology. She has been teaching Balinese Mysticism in Bali and the U.S. and published a collection of essays on Balinese dance, culture, and mysticism. Surapsari is also a certified yoga teacher and holds a Master’s degree in intercultural relations from Lesley University in Massachusetts.
