This past month I followed our recommendations from June’s Healthy Escapes article and took a mini-vacation visiting Savannah and Asheville, two Southern destinations I had not yet seen. The beauty of these two cities while distinctly different, made me feel at home; a feeling of comfort that Sarasota and the Gulf Coast have always provided. I hope to visit more extensively in future travels.
I love to travel. A good retreat renews my spirit. While I also love my work, lately I’ve been dreaming of taking time off for more trips. My ideal vacation is one spent traveling with a group of spiritually-minded people to an exotic location and eating delicious food that someone else has skillfully prepared. I have been fortunate to have traveled to some exotic destinations in the past few years, and each location managed to not only inspire me, but left lasting lifetime memories. It also left a desire to see more of our amazing world.
I have many destinations to add to my bucket list, and among these have always been Peru and China. You can imagine my excitement when our large family of Natural Awakenings publishers joined together and aligned with a travel group to promote our own Natural Awakenings trips-of-a-lifetime. The first scheduled adventures allow you to choose from one of these amazing destinations this fall. Read more about our Awakening Journeys on page 29 and consider clearing your calendar to join us! Our intent is to bring you conscious travel and retreat opportunities each spring and fall.
Another first for us this month is the launch of our first Natural Awakenings branded product: “detoxified iodine.” John Voell, co-founder of this magazine, has long been a proponent of this supplement. To purchase, shop online at NAwebstore.com. There you will also find some of those hard to find fitness and green products.
We hope you enjoy the simple pleasures of summer this month—chirping crickets, fresh fruits and veggies, and time spent by the ocean to relax and soak up the sun and breathe in the salt air. Find tasty recipes, and read some favorite summer memories sent in from Natural Awakenings publishers across the country in “Simple Summer Pleasures."
Wishing you easy, breezy summer days,
