Pay a Virtual Visit to India, a Land of Contrasts
Mar 05, 2013 01:51PM
India teases the imagination and tests your boundaries. It’s a land of contrasts—from squalid slums to the breathtaking Taj Mahal—from the stinking smells of sewage to the aromas of incense—from the endless cacophony of horns to the tranquil silence of a Buddhist Temple.
On Wednesday, March 13, JoMooy and Patricia Cockerill take you on a visual narration of a country caught between the 1900s and the 21st Century. They spent one month exploring the sights, sounds and stories of Northern India. They witnessed street temples near the downtrodden of the country which were as dear to the people as the holiest shrines of the Jains, Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists. They will guide you along the alleyways and byways, sharing what they learned, gained, brought back and left behind; and the two miracles that occurred on the trip.
Musicians skilled in the various instruments of India will set the stage before the presentation. There will be time for questions and answers after the presentation. Join us in this multi-media presentation at 7pm at RisingTide, 5102 Swift Road in Sarasota. A donation of $10 is suggested to Rising Tide. Tax deductible checks can be made payable to Rising Tide, a 501c3 organization. Open to all; children are welcome.
