InStride Therapy Raises Over $150,000 at “Mane Event”
InStride Therapy, one of the leading hippotherapy centers in the southeastern United States, raised more than $150,000 at its first annual fundraising event in March. Funds will support horse-riding therapy programs for people with special needs in Manatee, Sarasota, DeSoto and Charlotte counties.
More than 300 guests gathered at InStride Therapy Center in Nokomis for a sunset reception, sit-down dinner, raffle drawing and special auction. The fundraiser featured a special appearance by Gold Medal Paralympian Lauren Barwick, an international motivational speaker, horse trainer, 4-star Parelli Professional and 2-time Olympic medalist. Barwick inspired the crowd with her personal story of triumph over adversity and an impressive riding demonstration with her horse Paris.
Since 1994, InStride Therapy has been improving the lives of children as young as 18 months old and adults with a variety of disabilities. Hippotherapy, or “therapy with the aid of a horse,” is a uniquely effective strategy that engages riders in physical, occupational and speech therapies.
