A Healthy Digestive System = A Healthy Body

Colon cleansing is a centuries-old alternative therapy for releasing wastes, toxins and mucous from the large intestine and then from successive organs until the whole system has been cleansed. The practice can be traced back to 15th century Egyptians and Greeks. There was a general understanding that as the body completes its growth process and begins to age, the regeneration systems slow down. At this point, the build-up of toxins and waste in our bodies tends to impair optimal functioning of our organs.
A toxic colon can affect the body in many ways. The local effects of the poisonous residue are irritation and inflammation, expressed by constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, headaches, dull eyes, poor skin, aching muscles, joint pain, depression, bloating, mucous in the stool, poor appetite, fluid retention, gum infection and insomnia.
The intestinal toxemia can result in arthritis, asthma, diverticulitis, skin disease, colitis, psoriasis, fibrosis of the breast, respiratory disorders, eye/ear/nose/throat disease, Crohn’s disease and cancer. Notably, the toxins that enter the bloodstream from the colon can burden the liver and other organs. Because the liver plays such a vital role in clearing the blood of toxins, any impairment of liver function may aggravate the damage already done by bowel toxemia.
Cleansing of the colon and change in diet can reverse these effects. Performed by licensed therapists, the procedure is a refreshing and dynamic re-oxygenation of the body, enhanced food absorption, increased energy level and improved digestion. It has been known to relieve joint and muscular pain, headaches and constipation. Those suffering from kidney and liver ailments and cancer patients have also reported benefits from the treatments. By removing toxins, there can be anti-aging effects, and women’s health issues are often alleviated as well.
Fecal matter can accumulate and harden in the colon, possibly preventing the absorption of water and nutrients. This could lead to constipation; an environment that allows harmful bacteria and yeast to grow; and toxins that are absorbed into the bloodstream, affecting the entire body. By stripping toxic mucous that lines the bowel, a definite contributor to disease is eliminated.
For readers unfamiliar with this treatment modality, the concept is really quite simple: trained and licensed therapists gently, with no pressure, introduce purified water into the large intestine using disposable equipment while the patient lies on a comfortable bed. The water is then released. As the water is flowing out, the abdominal area is gently massaged. This process is repeated several times during the treatment.
Alain Menard, LMT, LTC, and Allaesia Menard, LMT, LTC opened their practice, Colon Therapy Clinic, in Sarasota 26 years ago. As licensed pioneers in the field for the past 40 years, they developed the “Menard Technique” of comfortable, no pressure inflow of purified water into the entire colon, using the highest quality of disposable equipment to promote gentle treatments. A series of eight to 12 treatments is recommended to release a lifetime of accumulation. This technique became the model for the State of Florida and was adopted into its colon therapy schools’ curriculum. Its success spread to California, Colorado, Arizona and Asheville, NC, where they have taught other colon therapists in an effort to elevate their procedures to the most effective technique available.
“We’ve been able to help many people of all ages here in Sarasota,” said Allaesia. “Our goal has always been to provide the safest clinically based treatment with hospital quality equipment and care, but in a spa-like setting. Our new clinic, just a few doors from our previous location in the Ringling Professional Center, offers more treatment rooms and a calming ambiance. We strive to make our clients feel comfortable while they’re being healed.”
Alain agreed, with the observation that many of the clients they see now have been with them since they opened in Sarasota. He added, “Our Angel of Water® is the world’s premier colon hydrotherapy system. It is registered with the Food & Drug Administration and is found in hospitals in many other countries, including Germany, Italy, France, Malaysia, China, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden. We are one of the very few clinics in southwest Florida to have it. We also offer other services that complement the colon cleansing for a total cleansing experience, including ionic (double) footbaths and ear candling. We’re always growing and changing to meet the medical needs of our patients who seek natural, alternative ways to better health.”
