Buy Just What You Need at Bulk Nation

To many people, buying in “bulk” means large quantities of product. This may be appropriate for large families or restaurant/institutional use, but for most health-conscious consumers, a little can go a long way.
That’s the concept behind Bulk Nation, where more than 1,400 regularly stocked items are available by the ounce or the pound. Owner Clay Donato notes that consumers are becoming more averse to over-packaging of products in quantities that don’t meet their needs. “Our product mix includes an extensive, yet still growing organic and natural foods category, offered in a fun, open environment, where the customer knows they are getting fresh spices, grains, honey, flour, peanut butter and more every time they shop with us. Our definition of ‘bulk’ is the consumer’s option to buy as much or as little as they like.”
Honey, for example, comes from Myakka Park, and four fresh honey tanks are available for customers to fill their “honey bear” containers as they please. Four different nut machines grind out a variety of fresh nut butters. Forty types of flour, dried rice and pasta include a large selection of gluten-free products.
Sweets are not forgotten, either. Donato notes that about 5 percent of the stock is candy. There’s also a good selection of pet foods and cleaning supplies.
Bulk Nation opened in February 2013 at 4039 S. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. Hours are Monday through Saturday 9am to 9pm; Sunday 10am to 7pm and holidays 9am to 8pm. Call 941-923-4695 or email [email protected] for more information.
