Local Author Releases Children’s Nutrition Book
Karen and Danny Leonetti have published “Yummy Tummy Rainbow Garden,” a story of two friends who were idly sitting in front of the TV playing computer games, when all of a sudden they decide to jump up and go outside and play.
The book touts the values and rewards of Grow-food, as the children learn where food grows – in the ground, above the ground, on bushes and trees. After learning all their fresh food knowledge, they decide to go home and plant their own garden in their backyard or start a community or school garden.
The book includes recipes for healthy foods that they can bring to school to share, how to compost food waste, and how exercise and fresh foods can help them grow. Additionally, kids are encouraged to unplug from electronics and plug into nature. There is a plethora of other wonderful lessons and beautiful watercolors illustrating wise eating habits.
The book is based on a plant-based diet and is written solely to encourage children to eat their fruits and veggies and to understand why. It’s available at amazon. com.
