Pop Craft Artisan Pops Celebrates First Year in Storefront

Oct 01, 2013 03:04PM

Popsicles are right up there when it comes to making people feel good, and the handcrafted, all natural Pop Craft Pops are something special. Donna Tortorice and her son, Martin Scott, have built a business on the frozen treats over the past four years, selling first from pushcarts at venues like farmers’ markets including St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Englewood, Anna Maria, Gainesville and Jacksonville, as well as Lido Beach in Sarasota, the Vinoy and Bodega in St. Pete, the Marriott and Hyatt in Orlando, Scamotz Tomato Pies in Venice and B’s Cool Treats Good Humor truck throughout Sarasota County. One year ago they opened a storefront at 2245A Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota, to resounding public response.

According to Donna, artisan gourmet pops are a healthy alternative to some of the overly sweetened, processed frozen treats that have been making the scene for years. Pop Craft uses locally sourced, seasonal whole food to create the frozen confections, with only the very best ingredients.

“Pop Craft has taken the art or should I say, ‘craft’ of creating these delicious treats to a new level,” she said. “We have added our own personal flare, incorporating aroma and flavors that are both sweet and savory that are unique to us. Each one of our innovative flavor combinations includes a ‘secret’ ingredient that separates our flavor profiles from anyone else.”

“We never use corn syrup, any kind of preservatives, artificial flavors, colors or chemicals in our pops,” she continued. “Instead, we use fresh whole seasonal fruits and vegetables, and organic products whenever possible. Only the best, freshest and ripest fruits will appear in our pops.” Shop hours are Monday through Thursday from noon to 6pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 7pm, closed on Sunday.
