“Kirtana Americana” CD Featured at Garden of the Heart Yoga
Wynne Paris, a nationally known kirtan artist, will appear at Garden of the Heart in December to celebrate the release of his latest CD, “Kirtana Americana,” which features his vocals, sarod, and guitar. Wynne collaborated with many artists, including Vish from the Mayapuris, who is well known for his uplifting kirtan vocals and spirited playing of the mridunga, a traditional two-headed Indian drum. Cheryl Chafee is also featured as a vocalist on a track on the album.
Wynne, Vish, and Cheryl will be leading kirtan on Friday, December 13th at 7:30pm. Kirtan, the ancient practice of call and response chanting, has taken a decidedly modern twist with the addition of electric guitar and bass, rock-and-roll riffs, and electronica. Wynne’s latest CD is a great combination of classical mantras and melodies with a modern, Western style. CDs will be available to purchase.
Hungry for even more kirtan? Shantala, the amazing duo from Oregon, Benjy and Heather Wertheimer, will be leading kirtan at Garden of the Heart on Tuesday, January 14th at 7:30pm.
And, join Cheryl and her husband Tim Chaffee for kirtan most Fridays at Garden of the Heart for free. (Love donations accepted.) Learn mantras and chants designed to open your heart, help you connect to the best parts of yourself and experience the joy that comes from singing together.
