I am so pleased to be the new publisher of Natural Awakenings. We have touched this community for decades, and we're proud of the friends we've made here, through both readership and business support.
It's always a two-way street with publications like ours. We want to support the community in as many ways as possible. You see that every month in our news briefs, calendar of events and community resources sections. We also welcome your feedback, because that's what has helped us grow to reaching 30,000 readers throughout Manatee, Sarasota and Charlotte counties.
I'm from Connecticut, but have deep roots here in southwest Florida. My family has vacationed here for years, and when the opportunity arose for me to fi nd my professional spot in this extraordinary piece of the universe, I didn't hesitate. All of my years in publication management are coming to a head with my acquisition of Natural Awakenings, SRQ/Manatee and Peace River. My sincere thanks are extended to Jeff Taylor and Jason Cross, former owners of this publication, for the work they have done within this community to build the brand and to personify the qualities expressed within these pages. These guys have walked the walk and talked the talk. I know they will be successful in all of their future endeavors, and I appreciate everything they have done to help me ease into my new role.
I also want to acknowledge an amazing staff. From editorial to graphics, social media to account management, these people are true professionals who will help keep the standards of the magazine high as a publication that is respected and sought after.
Finally, I want to encourage our readers to help me. Let me know the types of local articles you would like to see. Tell me when we've let you down. This is your magazine far more than it is mine, and we want to give you, the readers, the information and articles that will help you grow, to, as the words on our cover say, feel good, live simply, laugh more.'
Jason will be available through the completion of the March issue to help with the transition, so feel free to contact either him or me with any immediate input you may have. I personally look forward to becoming a sounding board for your needs. We have the writers and staff to respond, and it is m y goal to accommodate our readers to every extent possible.
I'm delighted to be part of the Natural Awakenings team. My promise is to continue to publish a magazine that is inspirational, helpful, uplifting and informative.
What a great way to start a new year.
