Tea and Puppets at Waldorf Sarasota
Mar 31, 2014 11:21PM
Tea and Puppets, a creative storytelling experience for parents and children, is offered in the Little Seedlings/Nursery classroom at Waldorf Sarasota from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on the first, second and fifth Fridays of every month.
Teacher Connie Mason notes, “Storytelling makes up a large component of Waldorf Education. Many experts contend that in order to attain proficiency in literacy, one must first have a solid foundation of oral language. Children must hear language in order to learn language. In Waldorf early childhood programs, the foundation of literacy development begins with the spoken word and on the oral traditions of storytelling, singing, reciting rhymes and verses. Rather than over-simplifying language or analyzing it, the emphasis is on keeping the language experience whole and alive.”
