It’s exciting to experience my first summer in Southwest Florida after living for so long in Connecticut. I was a little worried about the heat, but have been assured by several locals that the tropical breezes coming off the Gulf have amazing cooling powers, and that the heat here is more sultry and seductive than oppressive. I can see myself on a (rare) day off, lounging on the white crystalline sand, sipping a cold smoothy and totally relaxing.

Revel in a free country, with many opportunities. It’s okay to get a little sentimental about patriotism and the sacrifices made by men and women for the many past decades, as we cherish the freedom that the Declaration of Independence has created for our country.
So bring a blanket or comfy chair to the beach, watch the sunlight sparkle like diamonds on the waves, stay for the fireworks and enjoy a great day. Have a safe and happy 4th of July.
