USDA Food Distribution Schedule Set for July

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services contracts with All Faiths Food Bank to distribute free USDA commodities. In July, eligible Sarasota County residents will receive nine to 12 free commodities, with distribution at the following sites:

     North Port, 1 to 2:30 p.m., July 3 and 17, St. Nathaniel’s Episcopal Church, 4200 S. Biscayne Drive; 9 to 10:30 a.m., July 11 and 25, Mobile Pantry VGW Post 8203, 4860 Trott Circle.

     Venice: 9 to 11 a.m., July 2, Venice Community Center, 326 S. Nokomis Ave.

     Laurel: 2 to 5 p.m., July 16, Laurel Civic Association, 509 Collins Road.

     Nokomis: 9 to 10:30 a.m., July 9 and 23, Mobile Pantry Nokomis Park, 234 Nippino Trail.

     Sarasota: 9 to 11 a.m., July 1, House of God Church, 2310 Mango  Ave.; 10 a.m. to noon, July 8 and 22, Friendship Baptist Church, 5700 Palme Blvd.; 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., July 12, Vamo United Methodist Church, 8521 Vamo Road; 9 to 10:30 a.m., July 5, 12, 19 and 26, St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2256 Bahia Vista; July 18, 9 to 10:30 a.m., Mobile Pantry Glasser-Schoenbaum Center, 1750 17th Street.

     Eligibility for the emergency food program is determined by household size and income. People who receive food stamps are automatically eligible.

     Recipients must sign a declaration of need.
