Barre SRQ Comes to Yoga SRQ

Yoga SRQ is announcing BarreSRQ. It’s all the things you like about a barre class, with the addition of heart and soul to the sessions along with an eclectic playlist. The focus on breath and precision helps to clear your mind, thus helping you to relax and leaving you feeling invigorated and inspired rather than exhausted – and depleted. Starts July 2. Mondays and Wednesdays at 8 a.m. and Saturdays at 1 p.m.
Barre Classes are a popular choice for effective workouts in Sarasota. The fat-burning, muscle-toning, core-strengthening regiment integrates Pilates exercises along with a ballet bar, light weights and various props. One of the results is the unmistakable “Barre body” featuring sculpted arms, flat abs, a lifted seat, elongated thighs, and glowing skin.
The Barre technique was founded by Lotte Berk, a German ballet dancer. Berk was fluent in traditional Pilates and developed her own rehabilitation protocol after a serious spinal injury in the 1940s. Berk designed the Barre technique to be used as a restorative protocol and to safely target those difficult-to-tone areas. Modifications of the movements can be made for people with injuries or physical challenges so any age or ability can participate. Focus is on the breath and the quality, not quantity, of movement. Attention is given to form and the alignment of the body, all while performing small, muscle-shaping isometrics to quickly and safely reshape the entire muscle.
