North Port Hosts Environmental Summer Day Camp for Kids
Jul 31, 2014 11:42PM
An environmentally-minded day camp is being held for elementary and middle school students in North Port this summer, thanks to city officials and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s South District.
The George Mullen Activity Center Summer Camp is available for children entering first through eighth grades. This full-day program provides kids the opportunity to experience nature exploration, hands on-science, sports, crafts, swimming, and team building, plus a field trip each week.
Campers are placed in age appropriate groups, according to established counselor-to-camper ratios. Camp is held at the George Mullen Activity Center through August 15. The camp day begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Parents looking for a longer camp day can enroll their child in weekly Extended Care, which provides care from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., for an additional fee.
Location: George Mullen Activity Center, 1602 Kramer Way, North Port. For more information on schedule and cost, to download the parents’ guide and for registration, visit CityOfNorthport.com.
