Celebrate the Fall Equinox
Sep 01, 2014 03:05AM
A Druid ceremony and Druid slide show and discussion will be held September 21 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Rising Tide.
On the Equinox, the hours of the day and night are equal in length. On this day, in the time of the ancient Celts, the light of the autumnal morning sun entered the long passageways of Knowth and Loughcrew, signaling the start of the second harvest and a new season. On September 21, Jennifer Sault, ordained Ovate in The Order of Druids Bards & Ovates, leads a Druid-inspired Autumnal Equinox ceremony at Rising Tide, celebrating this most sacred time.
The ceremony will be followed by a slide show presentation of the Megalithic Sites of Ireland and England, with Jo Mooy and Patricia Cockerill. The slide show explains the significance of the Goddess culture at Newgrange, Loughcrew, Beltane Circle, Carrowkeel and Stonehenge, which were sacred to the ancients.
This is a perfect opportunity to combine the experiences of an actual Druid ceremony while seeing the Megalithic sites where these ceremonies were held by their ancestors thousands of years ago. Mooy and Cockerill bring a unique perspective to this event, having spent several weeks touring the sites with the premier energy dowsers and Druids of both countries.
The event is held as a fundraiser on behalf of Rising Tide Spiritual Center. Donation are $10. Doors open at 2:30. Men, women and well-behaved children are invited to attend.
Location: Rising Tide, 5102 Swift Rd, Sarasota. For more information, contact [email protected] or call 941-355-1414.
