Food Bank Goes Mobile and Fresh with ‘Sprout’

The Sprout Mobile Farm Market program is widely considered the “rock star” of the many assistance and nutrition education programs provided at All Faiths Food Bank. Bright, bold and filled with fresh fruits and vegetables, the truck brings produce to hungry visitors regularly in Sarasota County. Poor nutrition is linked to many health issues, and generous donors have united to introduce a program that addresses these issues. The result is “Sprout.”
Still in its pilot year, Sprout has provided an astounding 140,336 pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables to 20,929 adults and 8,489 children. Some of the produce is donated by local grocers and farmers, but is dependent on seasonal availability, so All Faiths purchases produce from other sources as well. Donations of funds or produce are welcome to help support Sprout’s efforts to provide food and nutrition for our neighbors in need.
