Roy Eugene Davis to Appear at Unity Sarasota

Jan 02, 2015 02:00PM

In November 2014, 500 members of southwest Florida’s spiritual community saw the extraordinary documentary Yogananda-Awake.  On February 1, the community will have the privilege of spending an afternoon with Roy Eugene Davis, one of the last two living direct disciples of Paramahansa Yogananda.

Davis is a scholar, a rational thinker, a gentle man, and one who lives the spiritual teachings and training of his master, Yogananda.  It’s rare that a direct disciple of a master can share his intimate account of that relationship, But Roy did that in his book, Yogananda As I Knew Him.

His Center of Spiritual Awareness (CSA) is located in the north Georgia mountains where people from all over the world attend retreats.  His message is simple and direct.  His talks are intelligent, kind, and filled with commentary of his time with Yogananda. More importantly, he keeps the attendees focused on true ‘‘self-realization” rather than on what he calls “psychic distractions.”

The program will be held at Unity of Sarasota from 2 to 5 p.m.  It is offered by donation only, the same practice he follows for his retreats at CSA.  The attendee considers the value of the teachings received, and donates accordingly.  All donations will be split 50/50 with Unity.  There are NO TICKETS to purchase.

However, you MUST PRE-REGISTER for this event, as seating space is limited. To register, send an email to [email protected].  You’ll receive a confirming email with a ticket embedded in it. Save the email with the ticket as it’s your entry to the event.

Location: 3023 Proctor Rd, Sarasota. For more information, call Jo Mooy at 941-355-1414 or email [email protected]. Information updates will be posted
