Revive the Senses: A Somatic Journey
Jan 31, 2015 11:01PM
Many people are new to conscious movement, and the benefits are numerous, including a greater feeling of peace and connection, body awareness, expanded consciousness and greater ease in life.
In this three-hour playshop on February 7 from noon to 3 p.m., one can dive into the inner landscape through exploration of the senses. A playful merging of Conscious Movement, Contact Improvisation and sensory meditation will allow space for deeply embodied connection.
Conscious Movement is a mindful movement practice where you listen to your inner voice and move from the wisdom of your body. There are no steps to learn, no right or wrong movements. Conscious Movement is a non-speaking sacred space, honoring the individual and creating community. A movement form where contact with another provides a springboard for improvisational movement and exploration, it is a juicy blend of self-exploration, community building, self-massage, spontaneity, touch, play and just plain “having fun being in your body” while being with others. There is no set choreography or steps to learn. The dance arises from the encounter with each moment.
Location: Prana Yoga and Healing Center 3840 S Osprey Ave, Sarasota. Cost is $30; $40 at door. For more information and to register, phone 941-724-9719, email [email protected] or visit ConsciousMovementSarasota.com.
