Modern Spirituality, Ancient Traditions
Modern Spirituality in America today covers a broad spectrum, both religious and non-religious, with variations too numerous to list. It is nonspecific, modern and, compared with dogmatic religions, a more self-motivated soul searching for those universal Truths that guide and inspire us through life. However, once embraced, we often begin to take a deeper look and contemplate the origins of our beliefs. This is the topic of a seminar being held at the Unity Church of Sarasota on April 25.
The Mitreya Center of Bradenton introduces a format for the exploration of this connection between modern and ancient beliefs and the truths they share in common. By delving into the nature of modern Spirituality in America, they will trace its evolutionary footprints from ancient traditions to today’s spirituality movement.
The first seminar in the series will focus on Ancient Vedic Traditions with other traditions to follow in coming months. Speakers representing both Vedic traditions and modern Spirituality will share their knowledge, experience and perspective.
The series is the brainchild of Dr. BVK Sastry, a scholar and teacher of Sanskrit, Yoga and Hinduism. A recent transplant to the Sarasota area, Dr. Sastry hails from Bangalore, India, via Orlando where he was a professor for 12 years. Founder of Yoga Samskrutham University in Florida, he offers the study of Yoga and Sanskrit to a global audience online. The Mitreya Center is a facility where individuals can find their own Path of Ascension through spiritual practices and scriptural studies of all faiths. Together, they chose Sarasota as the perfect location for such an event.
