Sarasota Concert Association Presents 71st Annual Great Performers Series Season

The Sarasota Concert Association (SCA) launches its eighth decade of bringing world-class music to this region with a dazzling 2016 lineup that includes the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Miró Quartet, the Russian National Orchestra and pianist Olga Kern.
The 2016 Great Performers Series season opens on January 26 at 7:30 p.m., with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra which The New York Times praises for “rendering complex scores with taut precision and feverish excitement.”
The season continues on January 31 at 3 p.m., with the Cleveland Orchestra, conducted by Sarasota native, Franz Welser-Möst, in his 14th season as music director.
The third concert on February 15 at 7:30 p.m., takes audiences on an innovative musical journey with the Miró Quartet, known for exciting performances, technical finesse and eclectic programming.
The fourth concert on March 8 at 7:30 p.m., features the world renowned Russian National Orchestra, directed by guest conductor Kirill Karabits.
The season concludes on March 14 at 7:30 p.m., with the return of Russian pianist Olga Kern, winner of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, who performed at Carnegie Hall to vast critical acclaim.
The Great Performers Series will take place at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. Subscriptions for all five concerts range from $180, $230, $280, and $320. Single tickets go on sale after October 1.
