Sarasota Yoga Teacher Offers Beginner’s Yoga Series
Have you ever wanted to try yoga but felt intimidated by joining a class at the YMCA, your local health club or a yoga center? Have you feared that, as a beginner, you might lag behind everyone else in the class? Have you heard that yoga is good for stress reduction, but just thinking about taking a class is already causing you stress?
In response to this common phenomenon, Sarasota yoga instructor Gary Halperin will be offering his popular four-week beginner’s yoga series on Wednesdayevenings, on September 9, 16, 23 and 30 at his studio from 7 to 7 p.m., , Feel Better Now Yoga. This series is designed to prepare those who are new to yoga for continuing on in their practice. The teaching will focus on standard yoga postures with emphasis on safety and body awareness.
“This is a perfect opportunity for newcomers to yoga to take classes with other beginners and learn the basis. In four classes, you can learn everything you’ll need to know to feel comfortable joining any ongoing yoga class,” says Halperin. “You will learn that everybody and anybody can do yoga. You do not need to be fit or flexible to begin a class. Yoga will help you become stronger, more flexible, and more aware of your body and breath.”
Halperin is a professional-level certified Kripalu Yoga and Meditation Instructor, who has been teaching these disciplines since 1994. His current and past clients include the Sarasota Orchestra, the Ringling School of Art and Design, residents and guests of the Longboat Key Club, and Sarasota County employees. Halperin is also the author of Feel Better Now Meditation and the creator of “Feel Better Now Yoga” DVD.
His four-week beginner’s series costs $32 if registration and payment are received by August 20. After this date, the cost will increase to $40.
