Mark Your Calendars for Blessing of the Pets at Unity of Sarasota

Sep 05, 2015 03:06AM ● By Nancie-Lynn Sheldon-Martin

Unity of Sarasota is proud to present a special, wonderful outreach program led by our joyful assistant minister, Reverend Amy Zehe.

One of the most innovative projects in the mix is our Annual Blessing of the Pets. Our enlightening Pet Blessing Festival touches both big and small animals, as well as their owners in the Sarasota and surrounding communities. Are you a loving and devoted animal lover? Are your pets honorary members of your family? Then, Unity invites you to participate in this uniquely enriching experience. On September 26, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., please join us to honor those glorious pets that we adore.

This event represents one of our important outreach activities shared with the greater community areas. We believe in our vision of “Me...We...Community” under the guidance and extraordinary mission of Reverend Elizabeth Thompson and Reverend Amy Zehe.

A Higher Power (your individual choosing and beliefs) created all animals, and we are their loving caretakers. Let’s give thanks for the love that they freely share with us unconditionally, while greeting other like-minded souls in doing so.

In celebration of this event, the Eighth Annual Blessing of the Pets, Reverend Amy will hold a short service, beginning at12:30 p.m., in our lovely, sacred Labyrinth. All people and pets are welcome to attend. Our open-hearted Prayer Chaplains will offer blessings to all pets, free-of-charge, and our special Memory Tree will offer the opportunity to memorialize any pets that have been lost. This day is dedicated to the love we all have for our animals.

There will be also multiple venders from a variety of disciplines, as well as several fun surprises. Please join us for this festive, joyful day. If you are interested in contributing to this worthy event as a vendor, the cost is $20. There is no cost to attend as a visitor, but we ask that you would kindly donate bags of dry food, cans of wet food, blankets, animals toys and other pet-friendly essentials for animals in need which we will give to non-profit animal rescue organizations. No donation is too small. Love offerings are greatly accepted but not required for entrance to this wonderful outreach event.

Unity of Sarasota is a trans-denominational movement which welcomes everyone and excludes no one. You are invited to awaken the Higher Self within, so we can all be the change we wish to see in this world.

Location: 3023 Proctor Rd., Sarasota. For more information about becoming a vendor or to have your questions regarding this event answered, call Rev. Amy Zehe at 941-955-3301 ext. 27.
