The Power of The Parables: Have Fun Listening and Learning!
Sep 05, 2015 02:45AM
This four-week course, presented by Reverend Amy Zehe and Mary Ann Modrak, will focus on familiar parables and encourage participants to look deeper into the message of the parable in today’s world. The term “parable” is defined as a short narrative using metaphor and symbolism to illustrate a moral or spiritual point.
Parables, like those in the Bible, were used by Jesus to speak to a community in a form they would connect with. In this course, as we search for a deeper meaning of familiar parables, we will also explore moral or spiritual truths that may lend themselves to a 2015 Parable.
Participants will be invited to develop their own parable. Classes will be held from 1:30 – 3 p.m., on Thursdays in the Fellowship Hall Education Annex, beginning September 3.
All materials will be available. Love Offerings of $10 or more per class would be greatly appreciated.
The dates and topics which will be presented for your learning enrichment are as follows:
September 3: Overview of the Power of Parables; Parable of the Pearl of Great Price
September 10: The Mustard Seed; 2015 Morals or Spiritual Truths that Need a Modern Parable
September 17: The Good Samaritan; Writing Your Own Parable
September 24: The Wise and Foolish Builders; Modern Parables.
Please join us for an invigorating discussion over several weeks. Each activity is a stand-alone experience, and all are welcome!
