Bradenton Farmers’ Market Announces Upcoming Events

Every fourth Saturday, The farmers’ market and Central Library of Manatee County will present the Creative Learning Station, focusing primarily on nutrition. Every second Saturday, the market will partner with Manatee County’s Community Health Division with presentations that promote Florida’s healthy weight initiative. The Community Health Division will also host a health fair on April 9.
Other community booths at the market include the Manatee County Animal Services pet adoptions hosted by Picture Them Adopted on every second Saturday; the Humane Society of Manatee County pet adoptions hosted by Fetch! Pet Care on every third Saturday; and the Healthy Cooking with Market Foods hosted by Ortygia Restaurant’s Chef Gaetano Cannata on every third Saturday.
On October 10, landscape guru Ross Peterson will demonstrate building a rain barrel, while artist Jean Farmer, of Fun Girl Art, paints the barrel. Starting October 17, the Mainly Arts and Crafts Market will take place every third Saturday. On October 24, the “Friendly Food Fight” will kick off Eat Local Week (October 24-30). Participating chefs will create a vegetarian dish or a dish that stars vegetables, with lean meat on the side.
On October 31, there will be a Howl’ween Pet Parade, with “healthy pets” as the theme. Sign-up is 10 a.m., and judging is 11 a.m. On November 14, a weightlifting demonstration will take place with Full Circle Performance Weightlifting Club and Coach Tyler Peacock. Help youth athletes to pursue their Olympic dreams. Finally, on December 12, a chorus showcase will be held, featuring choral groups from Manatee County schools.
