Annual Sarasota Medieval Fair Brings Historical Enrichment to Our Community
Nov 03, 2015 07:59PM
The twelfth annual Sarasota Medieval Fair will return to the Ringling Woods at the Sarasota Fairgrounds on Saturdays and Sundays, November 7–22, for three weekends of family friendly events for young enthusiasts and historical re-enactors alike. Rain or shine, this event will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Attendees can enjoy food, shows, entertainers, colorful costumes, music, vendors and even visit from Father Christmas. The front gates will open to the year 1314 in Scotland, then transport visitors to the Battle of Bannockburn between Robert the Bruce and Edward II. With this year’s Scottish theme, guests can also experience highland bag pipes, thundering drums and traditional kilted dress.
The Medieval Fair’s most popular attraction remains the full-contact jousting shows. Armor-clad riders compete in a game of skill and technique, during which each knight will attempt to knock the other off his steed while riding at full speed. Spectators will be enthralled with the action-packed excitement as they partake in this ancient sporting event.
Location: 3000 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. For more information, call 1-888-303-3247 or visit SarasotaMedievalFair.com.
