“Lover, Lover and Beloved” Sufi Night in Venice
Feb 25, 2016 09:47PM
For centuries, the Sufis have walked "the path of love," as mystics in the Islamic tradition, merging in the heart of the Beloved One who sits, not in some far-off heaven, but as "near as your jugular vein." Similar to Hindu Kirtan, Zikhr (remembrance) is the repetitive chanting of one or more holy names of the Divine.
This event will take place at the Venice Holistic Community Center on March 12, 7–9 p.m., and will include Sufi-inspired and heart-focused “Dances of Universal Peace,” lead by Susan Slack, as well as William Ward’s “Ocean of Sound.” All are welcome, and attendees are invited to bring a favorite Rumi or Hafiz poetry to share.
Location: 714 Shamrock Blvd., Venice. Suggested donation: $10 (no one turned away). For more information, call 608-239-4439, email [email protected] or visit VeniceHolisticCenter.com.
