Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Offered at Sarasota Mindfulness Institute

This eight-week curriculum, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979, teaches people how to tap into the wisdom of their own bodies and minds to face stress, pain and illness. In this intensive training, you will learn to access and cultivate your natural capacity to care for yourself and find greater balance, ease and peace of mind.
Through this class, you will likely increase your ability to cope with the challenges of everyday life and learn to respond to stressful situations, rather than to react which can often lead to more unpleasantness. You might even find yourself becoming more aware and vividly in touch with the present moment and your relationship with others.
Mindfulness meditation is learned and practiced in this MBSR course, taking place June 21–August 8, 6–8:30 p.m., on eight consecutive Tuesdays and one Saturday. In addition, Sarasota Mindfulness Institute offers more programs to enhance and support a growing mindfulness practice including mindful movement, sitting meditation groups, workshops and kids’ classes.
