Nature and Mindfulness: Photography as Meditation
Jun 01, 2016 11:27AM
Nature has calming properties that can help us become more present in everyday life by slowing down, centering ourselves and regaining healthy perspectives. Similarly, cameras help us focus on the nature surrounding us more clearly, so we can explore it more fully. When we combine these elements, the universes that reveal themselves are endless, allowing us to experience greater “being-ness” with new vision.
“Nature and Mindfulness: Photography as Meditation,” a workshop presented by Naturalist and Nature Photographer Anne Cederberg, will be held at Unity of Sarasota on June 19, 12:30–2 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to photograph the entire Unity property, learning to use the camera as a meditation tool. Several methods will be taught to help participants become more present, explore nature and, of course, have fun.
This class is not so much about photography, as learning to “be” and to “see.” Bring a camera or smart phone with ample memory available, pen, notebook and water bottle. Dress appropriately for the weather and some light walking. This is the first of two photography workshops Cederberg will be presenting at Unity this summer. The second class will be held in July or August, and will teach on using a camera to express one’s spiritual connection.
Location: 3023 Proctor Rd., Sarasota. For more information and to register, call 941-955-3301 or visit UnityOfSarasota.com.
