Does Matchmaking Really Work?

As professional matchmakers helping people find love, we’re often asked the following question: “Is having a professional matchmaker better than relying on chance or a friend with great intentions trying to help you meet “the one?’”
Or, what about online dating? After all, many people seem to gravitate toward this outlet, hoping that “lovely lady” or “handsome man” on the other computer screen really is who they say they are. These days, it’s difficult knowing where to find a romantic partner, or at least someone who is safe to date. William Tosh, Manager of Suncoast Singles met his wife through a matchmaker friend, and they are both firm believers that matchmaking does indeed work. Sometimes, we need an outsider who can view our situations objectively and push us beyond our comfort zones in order to find a beautiful, long-term and satisfying relationship.
Using a matchmaking service that conducts background checks is imperative. Each month, Suncoast Singles turns away approximately 25% of the people who come to them, either because they don't pass the standard background check, or they don’t have the right attitude to undertake this process.
“If a woman comes in, and she has a really big chip on her shoulder, we are not going to introduce her to one of the guys in our program. We will do our best to address her pain and frustration and get her on the right track, but attitude is key to dating and finding a special relationship. Don’t settle––finding the right partner to share the rest of your life with is among the most important investments you will ever make,” explains Tosh.
