For Pillars Hosts Kundalini Yoga Workshop for PTSD
Sep 01, 2016 12:20AM
In honor of 9/11 this month, Four Pillars and GreenZone Hero are bringing a special guest from New York City for a “Kundalini Yoga: Veteran & Community Workshop” to help those dealing with PTSD. The event will take place on September 11, 3–5 p.m., at Four Pillars, and will be facilitated by Karisa Judith (a.k.a. Kundalini Karisa).
Kundalini Karisa has studied yoga around the world, obtaining her first 200-hour certification in Greece during 2010. This was followed by a Kundalini Yoga Self-Mastery certification in Costa Rica during 2012. In addition, she earned yet another 200-hour Kundalini Yoga certification in India during 2013. She has continued studying throughout New York City, becoming certified in disciplines such as Prenatal Yoga and Yoga for Special Needs including autism, cerebral palsy, ADHD and PTSD.
The unfortunate fact is that 70% of U.S. adults have experienced a traumatic event that affects their current quality of life. Medical and scientific research shows the body stores stress and trauma deeply within its muscles and the brain circuits. The effects of stored trauma may include nightmares, anxiety, panic attacks, depression, chronic fatigue, insomnia, fear, compromised immune system, and an inability to move past negative and fearful thoughts. Kundalini Yoga can, therefore, help release these traumas we hold inside our bodies. If you’ve experienced trauma, or need an outlet to process the residual trauma of 9/11, please join us for this workshop.
Location: 8209 Natures Way, Suite 221, Lakewood Ranch. Pre-registration required. For more information and to sign up, call 941-373-3955 or visit FourPillarsFlorida.com.
