In 2017, Sarasota Mindfulness Institute will be offering a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training. Mindfulness meditation is both learned and utilized in this course. The sessions will take place on Tuesday evenings from January 17–March 17, 6–7:30 p.m., with a practice on February 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This eight-week curriculum, developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979, will teach participants to access the wisdom of their own bodies and minds to counteract stress, pain and illness. In this intensive training, you will tap into and cultivate your natural capacity to care for yourself through balance and inner peace.
During each class, you will develop skills to to cope with the challenges of everyday life such as responding to stressful situations, rather than reacting which can lead to more unpleasantness. Finally, you will improve your basic physiological functioning, and you might even become more aware of your relationship with others and each moment you inhabit.
Sarasota Mindfulness Institute also offers additional programs to enhance and support a growing mindfulness practice such as mindful movement, sitting meditation groups, various workshops and kids’ classes.
