Learn to Swim Without Learning Strokes
Jan 31, 2017 04:40PM
Fear of deep water prevents half the adults in America from learning to swim in the conventional way. Miracle Swimming for Adults (MSA) literally wrote the book for the aquatics industry and adult non-swimmers about how to overcome fear of water. Adults have traditionally been taught the same lessons as children. Miracle Swimming is a new paradigm of teaching.
Many people don’t realize that fear has prevented them from learning. However, fear is the smartest reaction a child or adult can have to a frightening experience. Fear protects you from experiencing the same danger again. But at the same time, this fear can also diminish your potential. Overcoming fear equals learning to swim. To be successful, you’ll need to restore your trust in both yourself and the water to prevent panic.
The moment you overcome this fear of deep water, you have learned to swim. Then, since you’ll no longer be focused on survival, you will have attention to spare for learning strokes. Miracle Swimming is headquartered in Sarasota, and there are licensed instructors around the U.S. Sign up for classes with us during four weekends in May, 6–7, 13–14, 20–21 and 27–28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Or take a five-day intensive session, April 24–28 or June 12–16.
