Psychomanteum: The Visionary Experience
May 31, 2017 01:41PM
The Psychomanteum is a chamber invented by Dr. Raymond Moody, but inspired by ancient techniques used for 2500 years at the Oracle of the Dead in Ephyra Greece. A visitor to the Psychomanteum often experiences contact with departed loved ones.
The Psychomanteum technique involves mirror gazing. Seat yourself comfortably, then relax and look into the depth of a clear mirror without trying to see anything. Deep relaxation is necessary for this process. Your arms should feel heavy, and your fingers will tingle. This tingling signals the onset of the hypnogogic, or altered consciousness, state.
The mirror might become cloudy. Practitioners often report seeing an image resembling the sky on a cloudy day. Others describe the mirror as darkening. Sometimes you might hear a departed person talk or feel their touch. You might sense a location, but not see anything.
Dr. Moody suggests that you immediately record your experience. Like with writing down your dreams, include as much detail as possible. Therefore, you can return to the visions at each stage of your life and draw more wisdom from them. The Spirit University has recently installed a working Psychomanteum chamber. You can find out more about the Psychomanteum at the Here and After Conference, June 9–11.
