Sep 01, 2017 01:00PM
Next month, Garden of the Heart Yoga Center is excited to be hosting YogaReach’s Mindful Movement for Parkinson’s Disease training program. Led by PD experts Char Grossman and Michael Ingram, this three-day training is designed to show participants how to teach yoga to people with Parkinson’s Disease. This in-depth workshop will take place on October 27, 6:30–9 p.m., October 26, 1–7 p.m., and October 29, noon to 6 p.m.
Yoga is a modality that has been shown to help people with PD improve their flexibility, functional mobility, balance, coordination, confidence and mood. The training is open to yoga teachers, health professionals or anyone who cares for someone with PD.
Grossman, an IAYT certified yoga therapist, created the Mindful Movement for PD program after years of serving medically challenged populations and witnessing positive results in her adaptive programming for clients with PD. Her successful Mindful Movement for PD classes are ongoing at a Northeast Ohio PD wellness center. This is a unique opportunity to study with her here in Florida. This training includes a manual and provides 15 Yoga Alliance CEUs to registered yoga teachers.
Location: 2888 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota. Cost: $299 (early registration through September 15), $395 (regular price). For more information and to register, visit GardenOfTheHeartYoga.com.
