Dr. Sera Balderson, founder of Point Lumineux, and Doctor of Oriental Medicine, has added a new clinic to her practice where patients can come, get evaluated and recommended for medical marijuana. 

Dr. Sera is a licensed Acupuncture Physician and Doctor of Oriental Medicine. She studied biochemistry and molecular biology at Penn State University, then furthered her studies in Oriental Medicine in Sarasota and in China at Zhejiang University School of Medicine. Dr. Sera has also earned postgraduate certifications in Functional Medicine, Nutrition, Cosmetic Acupuncture, Zeltiq Cool Sculpting, Cold Laser Therapy and Acupoint Injection Therapy. 

The clinic is accepting appointments under Point Lumineux's medical director Dr. Wellington Chen, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He completed an internship in family medicine and residency in Anesthesiology at Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. Dr. Chen is a member of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He has been serving the Sarasota community for over 30 years, and is licensed as a medical cannabis physician. 

Point Lumineux offers CBD oil which interacts with the body through the endogenous cannabinoid system (ECS) or endocannabinoid system. First discovered in the late 1980’s, the endocannabinoid system regulates the body’s homeostasis, or general state of balance, impacting such functions as mood, sleep, appetite, hormone regulation, pain response and immunity. 

 This oil is available in multiple recommended forms such as oral, inhalation and topical delivery. 18 different strains to ensure a variety of options include Charlotte’s Web, Lemon Tree, Remedy, Skywalker, Girl Scout Cookies and more. The clinic also assists in applying for the medical marijuana card which typically has a four to six-week approval and provides on-site passport pictures.
