Science Finds Mindfulness Beneficial for Health

Jan 30, 2018 05:30PM

Mindfulness is a larger concept than meditating. It’s a way of being that informs how we live to in order to experience optimal wellness. Scientists have studied mindfulness for over 30 years and concluded that the benefits of learning mindfulness can improve all areas of life.

  • Mindful breathing reduces the prevalence and intensity of pain, angina, panic attacks, asthma, fibro, MS, blood pressure, heart rate variability, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn’s Disease, seizures and cardiac incidents.

  • Mindful movement, using only weight-bearing forces of the body and low intensity, results in balanced muscle strength and flexibility, improved neuromuscular health and less risk of injury.

  • Mindful meditation restores DNA longevity indicators and holds the potential to disarm genetic triggers.

  • Mindful meditation improves brain function, memory, focus, productivity, creativity and decision-making.

  • Mindful meditation reduces depression, despair, loneliness, anxiety, insomnia, anger, substance abuse and low self-image.

  • Mindful meditation improves resiliency to trauma and PTSD, increases proprioception, balance and coordination, enhances metabolism, weight control, relationship with food and immune function to regulate inflammation, and reverses heart disease when combined with a nutritious diet.

  • Mindful living promotes healthy relationships, happiness and enhanced quality of life through present-moment awareness, conscious choices in conflicts and challenges, and empowered positivity, acceptance, kindness, compassion, empathy and friendliness.

  • Mindfulness practices significantly empower motivation and the ability to both recover and sustain overall health.
