Feng Shui for Summer

Lucky Dragon says:

“Use these tips to survive the heat of our Florida summers!”

Summertime means more outdoor activities, but in Florida that also means being active in much higher temperatures. We naturally hold additional heat in our bodies, so without a balance, we can enter a state of excess which leads to many other problems.

To counteract this, make sure to absorb enough hydration and use electrolyte replacements from a quality source to balance the depletion from excessive sweating.

What does this mean in terms of feng shui? It means that we are shifting from wood yang energy (spring) into a period of more explosive yang fire energy (summer). Balance the hot yang energy of fire with cooling water or earth energies. You can achieve this by adding cool blues, greens, pinks and grays into your home decor and clothing choices.

Also make sure to eat cooling, raw foods such as melons and salads. However, if your acupuncturist has told you to avoid from raw and cold foods, it’s important heed that advice as some digestive states do not tolerate cold and raw food choices.

This is also an ideal time to revisit your wardrobe and donate any clothing that you haven’t worn in three ore more years. If there is a piece that needs repair, decide to either complete the mending or discard that particular item. Finally, if a piece of clothing doesn’t fit anymore, it’s time to part with it.

Does feng shui excite you? Stay tuned to this feng shui column for announcements about video blogs on how to feng shui your space for life—both in the summer and all year long!
