ETPS: Natural Pain Relief That Works

by Patti Paskow, LMT, MA# 21004

Are you tired of feeling in pain? Are you ready to experience a different kind of pain relief modality? Then allow me to introduce you to the Electro Therapeutic Point Stimulator (ETPS). This treatment combines electrical nerve stimulation, muscle relaxation and acupressure which is acupuncture without the needles.

As an ETPS practitioner, I have been trained like an acupuncturist to locate areas of the body known to treat pain. I apply the ETPS device (an electrode wand) which omits a low frequency of electrical current directly onto the Chinese meridians and trigger points throughout the body. The results of this treatment include enhanced circulation, stimulation of “gateways” in the nervous system, relaxation of contracted muscles to relieve pressured nerves and release of the body’s natural pain relievers—endorphins. You will be relieved of discomfort, pain and stress levels which will boost your immune system automatically. My clients often express significant pain relief just after the first session.

In fact, this is how a particular client described her results: Through my experiences of massage to counteract the extended hours spent in forward flexion due to my occupation, my massage therapist Patti introduced me to ETPS. I had some reluctance, but am pleased with all of my sessions. When applied to the back or neck muscles, there is an electric pulse sensation. It can range from minimal heat to a vibration feeling. The placement of ETPS on acupuncture points is short and brief, so definitely manageable.

Massage has given me relief, but in conjunction with ETPS, the relief was not felt until 24 hours after the application. The areas she worked on are not as tight now, and the pain has diminished. The blood-flow has returned to my trapezius and other back and neck muscles, while reducing the impingement in my hands which had previously been prone to tingling sensations. I’m grateful for my massage therapist—she has extensive knowledge and interest in her clients’ well-being.”

I have been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 20 years, and I specialize in Medical Massage. I have an understanding that pain means something different to every person. I utilize my intuitive touch to customize massage therapy. Incorporating ETPS into my massage treatments helps me achieve remarkable results for the numerous issues my clients struggle with. I often apply it to effectively treat these common symptoms: muscle spasms, range-of-motion issues, Fibromyalgia, chronic back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injuries, tension headaches and migraines, among others.
