Bear Creek Veterinary Alternatives Welcomes New Doctor, Expands Hours

Bear Creek Veterinary Alternatives has hired Dr. Sarena von de Heyde and is expanding their hours to better accommodate clients. New hours will include Wednesdays and some additional Saturdays. With the addition of Dr. Sarena, the clinic will also be open for earlier appointments at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The clinic offers holistic care for chronic diseases, such as cancer, allergies and arthritis. Well puppy exams, acupuncture, nutritional education, vaccine titers, dentistry, including non-anesthesia dentals for those, who are not good candidates for anesthesia, are offered, as well as palliative care, Healing Touch for Animals® and cold laser treatments. Herbal therapy, homeopathy, glandular medicine and diagnostics round out a treatment plan, especially when conventional treatments have not been effective.

Dr. Sarena was born and raised in rural Zimbabwe, Africa. From an early age, her grandmother taught her traditional and holistic medicine. She took care of all the animals’ health care needs on the family farm, as there was very little veterinary care available. She came to the United States in 1989, and attended the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine, and did her surgery internship at Ocala Equine. She brings her love of holistic care along with her years of experience in traditional and emergency medicine.

Bear Creek Veterinary Alternatives is a holistic specialty practice located in Sarasota. Jaime Gonzalez DVM, CVA is a holistic care expert, and his approach to veterinary care combines 24 years of conventional, emergency and alternative medicine modalities. Susan Gonzalez offers Healing Touch for Animals.

Location: 7509 S Tamiami Trail. For more information, please visit or call 941-312-6825.
