Buddhist Monk Visits Sarasota Center of Light

Sarasota Center of Light welcomes Buddhist Monk and Zen Master Chong An Sunim. This international teacher and Zen Master will be sharing his wisdom and experience during a dharma talk he will present on Tuesday, Sept 25 from 7 to 9 PM.

Chong An Sunim entered the dharma in 1990, became a monk in 1994, then went to Korea where he studied at Hwagyesa under the guidance of Zen Master Seung Sahn. In 2000, he began his teaching career in Europe, then later in Asia and the USA.

Today, he is the Abbot of Won Kwang Sa temple in Hungary. The temple offers retreats and courses for Zen training, both traditionally Korean and distinctly Western. He received full Dharma Transmission on May 9, 2017, from Seol Jong Sunim, becoming the first Zen Master of Western origin in the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.

His dharma talk is titled “Who Are We? Experiencing Our True Nature with Zen Meditation.” This will be an in-depth and inspiring insight into Zen philosophy, Zen mediation, and its effects on spiritual awakening and inner knowing. The evening will include discussion, conversation and questions and answers. A Love Offering will benefit his temple in Hungary.
